Planning an Erie PA 2 day itinerary is the perfect way to experience this lakeside gem without feeling rushed. From breathtaking sunsets over Lake Erie to charming local eats and family-friendly attractions, Erie packs a lot of adventure into just one weekend. In this guide, I’ll share our favorite spots and insider tips to help first-time visitors make the most of two unforgettable days.

Day 1 – Exploring Presque Isle & Lakefront Adventures

Our Erie PA 2 day itinerary starts along the Bayfront. Erie’s harbor is alive with boats, waterfront hotels, and the Bicentennial Tower standing tall. Instead of waiting until later, we like to start with an early lunch by the water. It sets the pace for a relaxed and scenic day.

Our second morning of the Erie PA 2 day itinerary began at a slower pace. After soaking in the harbor views the night before, we were ready for a relaxed day filled with culture, food, and a few hidden gems beyond downtown. Erie has a wonderful mix of history, art, and flavor—perfect for wrapping up a weekend trip.

Morning at Avanti’s & the Erie Maritime Museum

We started the day with a late breakfast at Avanti’s on 8th Street—a local favorite for omelets and coffee. From there, it was a short drive to the Erie Maritime Museum, where we learned about the city’s role in Great Lakes naval history. Unfortunately, the U.S. Brig Niagara was away in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, for repairs during our visit, but staff told us it should return by early summer 2026. Even without the ship, the museum was fascinating and absolutely worth a stop.
